Standalone Tipping-Bucket Gauges
Free-standing tipping-bucket gauges for sites where the sensor mounts separately from the station. The 2500 series offers 8 or 12-inch orifices and an electric heated version that melts snow into measurable water equivalent; the 2501 is the reliable, low-cost design built for the National Weather Service.
2500 — rain & electric rain/snow
Rainfall entering the 8 or 12-inch funnel collector is directed to the tipping-bucket assembly; each tip activates a magnetic reed switch for a momentary contact-closure output, and the sample discharges through the base. Anodized, powder-coated aluminum with a leveling bubble on the base and 25 ft of signal cable included.
Where 120 Vac power is available, the 2500E adds a heater kit that melts snow falling into the funnel, so the tipping bucket measures the water equivalent through the cold season. A 25 ft power cable is included.
2501 — the NWS gauge
Designed for the National Weather Service as a reliable, low-cost tipping-bucket sensor. Its simplicity assures trouble-free operation while providing accurate rainfall measurement: a sealed reed switch closes for each 0.01 in. (or 1 mm) of rainfall. 8-inch orifice, aluminum construction, powder-coated gloss white, debris screen in the funnel, and shipped complete with mounting brackets and 25 ft of signal cable.
